Overview

JSON Analyzer — Structure, Stats & Insights

Get an instant statistical summary of any JSON document: total keys, maximum nesting depth, array sizes, value-type distribution, and the top-level shape of the payload. The analyzer turns an opaque blob into measurable facts, which is invaluable when you are reverse-engineering an undocumented API, auditing a config, or deciding how to model data downstream. Runs entirely in your browser.

  1. What the analyzer measures

    • Total number of keys and unique key names
    • Maximum nesting depth of the structure
    • Array lengths and the largest collections in the payload
    • Distribution of value types (string, number, boolean, null, object, array)
    • Top-level keys and the overall shape of the root object
  2. Why structural stats matter

Before you write a parser, a database schema, or a TypeScript interface, you need to know what you are dealing with. Knowing the maximum depth tells you whether recursion is required. Knowing type distribution flags fields that are sometimes null or sometimes a different type — a common source of runtime bugs in strongly typed languages.

For undocumented or third-party APIs, the analyzer is a fast discovery tool: paste a sample response and immediately see which fields are arrays, how deep nesting goes, and where the data volume concentrates.

  3. From analysis to action

Once you understand the shape, the next step is usually generation or transformation. Use the JSON Schema Generator to derive a validation schema, a code generator (TypeScript, Go, Python, Java, C#) to produce typed models, or the JSON Flatten tool to prepare the data for tabular export. The analyzer tells you which path fits your data.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does the analyzer change my JSON?

No. It reads your document and reports statistics. The original JSON is never modified — it is a read-only analysis.

What counts toward the key total?

Every object property across all nesting levels is counted. Array elements are counted as values; their parent key is counted once.

Can it handle deeply nested data?

Yes. The analyzer reports the maximum depth and works on arbitrarily nested objects and arrays, limited only by your browser's memory for very large files.

Is my data private?

Completely. Analysis runs client-side in your browser; nothing is uploaded, logged, or stored on a server.
