Overview
JSON to CSV Converter — Export JSON to Excel & Sheets
Convert JSON arrays and nested objects into clean CSV ready for Excel, Google Sheets, LibreOffice, and data pipelines. JsonDrift flattens nested objects with dot notation, handles arrays intelligently, and lets you choose comma, semicolon, tab, or pipe delimiters for regional Excel compatibility. Paste a JSON API response, convert, download — no Python script, no Excel macro, no server upload.
How JSON to CSV conversion works
Each object in a JSON array becomes one spreadsheet row. Property names become column headers. When objects share different keys, columns are built from the union of all keys so sparse records still align correctly.
A single top-level object converts to one row. Primitive arrays can be converted with a generic value column.
Flattening nested JSON
Nested objects flatten into columns like address.city and meta.owner.name. Arrays of simple values (strings, numbers) join into one cell with semicolon separators. Arrays of objects serialize as JSON strings inside the cell when flattening cannot produce a single scalar.
Delimiter choice for Excel
US Excel typically expects comma-separated CSV. Many European locales default to semicolon because comma is the decimal separator. Tab-separated values work well for paste into Sheets. Pick the delimiter that matches how your spreadsheet imports data.
Typical use cases
- Export REST API JSON to a spreadsheet for analysts
- Flatten nested telemetry for BI tools
- Quick ad-hoc reports from JSON log samples
- Bridge between JSON-native apps and Excel-based workflows

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
How are nested objects handled?
Nested keys flatten with dots, e.g. user.name. Complex nested arrays may appear as JSON text in a cell.
Can I convert a single JSON object?
Yes. It produces one CSV row with headers from the object's keys.
Is my data uploaded?
No. Conversion runs entirely in your browser.
Will Excel open the file correctly?
Choose the delimiter your Excel locale expects. Semicolon is common outside the US.
