Overview

Query String to JSON — Parse URL Params Online

Parse a URL query string into a structured JSON object. Paste page=2&sort=name&tags=a&tags=b and get clean JSON you can read, edit, or feed into code. It is the fast way to inspect a captured request, debug tracking parameters, or turn a documented API URL into a JSON config. Values are URL-decoded automatically, and everything runs in your browser.

  1. How parsing works

Each key=value pair becomes a property on the resulting JSON object, and values are percent-decoded so %20 turns back into a space and %26 into an ampersand. Repeated keys (tags=a&tags=b) are collected into an array so no values are lost. A leading ? is ignored, so you can paste a full URL fragment or just the parameters.

The output is standard JSON you can format, validate, or transform with any other tool in the suite.

  2. When it is useful

    • Inspecting a captured API request as readable structured data
    • Debugging UTM, tracking, and campaign parameters
    • Converting a documented endpoint URL into a JSON config
    • Extracting and editing OAuth or redirect callback parameters
  3. Round-tripping with JSON to Query String

The inverse tool, JSON to Query String, rebuilds a URL-ready query string from a JSON object. Use the pair to capture a request, edit its parameters as JSON, and regenerate the URL — a clean workflow for testing and reproducing API calls.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How are repeated keys handled?

Repeated parameters such as tags=a&tags=b are grouped into an array ("tags": ["a", "b"]) so every value is preserved.

Are values automatically decoded?

Yes. Percent-encoded characters are decoded, so %20 becomes a space and %2C becomes a comma in the resulting JSON.

Can I paste a full URL?

Yes. A leading path and ? are handled, so you can paste a complete URL or just its query-string portion.

How do I convert JSON back to a query string?

Use the JSON to Query String tool to turn a JSON object back into URL-ready, percent-encoded parameters.
